FAQs

Is this therapy?

No. This is mentorship-led support focused on career development, work design, leadership growth, and sustainable ways of working.

While my practice is informed by Mental Health First Aid principles, I do not provide clinical mental health care or therapy. If you need therapeutic or crisis support, I will help signpost you to appropriate services.

Who do you work with?

I work with scientists and science-adjacent professionals who are thoughtful, reflective, and motivated, and who want to approach their careers with both ambition and their personal lives with care.

Many clients are navigating:

  • increased responsibility,

  • career transitions or sector changes,

  • leadership growth,

  • workload strain or decision fatigue

Do you only work with women or people from underrepresented backgrounds?

No. I work with scientists and science-adjacent professionals from a range of backgrounds and career stages.

While my own lived experience informs my perspective, the core of my work focuses on sustainable career development, leadership growth, and mental wellbeing in complex environments.

What if I am already feeling burned out?

This work is preventative-first and is most effective when strain is emerging rather than acute.

If you are feeling early signs of overload, we can work on boundaries, workload systems, and decision clarity.

If you are experiencing significant distress or crisis, I will help you identify more appropriate forms of support before or alongside mentorship.

Do you help with lab-to-non-lab transitions?

Yes. I support:

  • lab-to-non-lab transitions

  • public-to-private sector moves

  • cross-functional shifts (e.g., research to applications, commercial, communications, project management)

  • redefining what progression looks like

My own non-linear career journey allows me to understand the practical and identity shifts involved.

Do you work with people in leadership or management roles?

Yes. I support individuals stepping into or already operating within leadership roles, particularly where responsibility, decision-making, and complexity are increasing.

Our work may focus on sustainable leadership practices, boundary-setting, and supporting others without overextending yourself.

How does async support work?

You send structured written updates or voice notes between sessions. I respond within agreed timeframes.

This allows for reflection without creating an “always-on” dynamic. The structure keeps support thoughtful, contained, and sustainable.

How long do people typically work with you?

Most clients work with me for a defined period (e.g. 3–6 months), depending on their goals and context.

The intention is not long-term dependency, but to help you build clarity, systems, and decision-making approaches you can continue using independently.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. All mentorship is delivered remotely.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. All work is confidential and anything we discuss will never be disclosed to any third party.

In line with Mental Health First Aid guidance and ethical practice, confidentiality will only be broken if I believe you may be at risk of serious harm to yourself or to others. In such circumstances, my priority would be safety, and I would seek appropriate support.

Outside of this, what we discuss remains private.
